I have a love-hate relationship with GNS3, and I appreciate it's cool (when it works). I also appreciate it's free, and people go to great lengths to develop it for very little rewards. But when I try to do simple things like put my projects / labs online and it gets incredibly complex, I get really crazy.

With Windows this is easy (you've probably jotted down before), drag a cloud to the workbench and connect it to a network card, job done! On a Mac, it's a completely different ball game, as I discovered last year when I switched from Windows to Mac. And a documented way to do this is to use Tun tap interfaces and run GNS3 as root and link things. But I can't run this at all.
Thanks to my colleague Steve for this solution. When I switched to Mac, it was my "go to person" for "how does this work" and "what is the Mac equivalent of {insert software name} questions". I couldn't connect my new Mac GNS3 Labs to the internet so it provided me a virtual machine that did the hard work for me. Despite my efforts to find a better way to do this, it is still the easiest and simplest solution, it works with wireless / wired connections, etc.
Requirements:
GNS3 (obviously). I am using version 1.4.4
Virtualbox (Unfortunately this won't work for VMware Fusion, I've tried.) I'm using version 5.0.16 r105871
