Founded in 1967, Whispering Wind
is the longest-lived publication about American Indian handicrafts, material culture, history, and powwow dates. 40-48 pages per issue, published articles about Native American material culture, handicrafts, history, and historical images. A popular feature is Powwow Fashions, which focuses on the ever-changing styles of clothing on the powwow stage. Much of each issue includes historical analysis of photos as well as great reviews of books and music. An important resource for shops selling American Indian-related crafts and interests.
