On the authority of Sheikh Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, may God have mercy on him:
He was born in the village of Al-Maarazeh, which belongs to Armant, in the Qena Governorate, in Arab Egypt. He was born in the year 1345 AH.
The Sheikh completed the memorization of the Qur’an at the hands of the Sheikh Al-Amir, and collected the readings of Sheikh Muhammad Salem, who was being traveled to, in order to collect the readings of the Qur’an and take from his sciences and arts.
The Sheikh visited many Islamic and Western countries and his visits had a great impact on Islam and Muslims, as the message of the Qur’an was conveyed in the best way and was the reason for guiding many.
His visits helped strengthen the bonds between many of the world's people.
The Sheikh visited the city of Cairo, where he met many of the great reciters, and on that visit he had the opportunity to read in the hands of the great reciters, and on this occasion he was a mediator in the treaty between the Sheikh and the radio. The radio station was Sheikh Abdul Basit's starting point to the wider world.
The Sheikh has received many honors and certificates of appreciation from a number of Islamic countries. In appreciation of his efforts in serving the Qur’an.
The Sheikh died after a battle with an illness in the afterlife in 1409 AH.
